I've seen several images floating around of watches with cracked ceramic cases. I'm aware that ceramic is brittle and can crack, but was under the impression that it would have to hit a surface pretty hard to do so.
Ceramic is scratcheable, especially black ceramic. Some I have been able to buff out with eraser. For me though, with this watchi think the scratches add character. I have had a search on google images and surprised that I find very few cracked ceramic watches - and many watch site discussions show the same watch pics: IWC chrono damage in 2013 and another from 2020; Omega DSOM from 2015; Panerai damaged in 2010 (317) and another broke in 2013 (384) Ceramic is very resistant to scratching, steel hits it and some material is left on the ceramic. But impact resistance is another thing, whereas steel will dent but ceramic will crack. Kinda like sapphire. The cost of the steel case in the US for a Panerai 104 where the entire steel case had to be replaced due to a problem with the lug (couldn't get the strap out) was 00 for the customer. 00 for the ceramic case is high. Yes, a Ceramic case is 3x the .
