My SA at MK told me that "saffiano" refers to the leather being stamped in a series of cross-hatch designs which makes the leather virtually scratch resistant and easy to clean. The Saffiano Hamilton, Selma etc. are all leather. Some of the MK small totes have the saffiano effect .
They will either use a clear leather glue, or a leather patch (matching your colour leather) underneath the hole. I do know a clear glue suitable for leather, I had the same problem and applied a tiny tiny amount to what was a very small triangle hole on my nappa leather handbag, it dries clear. Just because a bag says genuine leather doesn’t mean what you think. We’ve been in the shoe and leather repair business for over 30 years and unless you’re buying a vintage bag it isn’t top grain leather. Think particle board. That’s what you’re getting. Leather dust mixed with vinyl or PU. Most popular name brands state Saffiano.

I thought saffiano was dent proof and so much more resistant to these sort of things and am surprised to hear this. Regardless, I personally think that dents, dings, patina and things .

Pebbled leather is beautiful, but the structured look of saffiano goes better with my outfits. Also, pebbled leather requires more maintenance and all around I feel a need to be cautious whenever carrying it . If it has to be structural satchel,I would prefer in saffiano. If its a hobo or slouchier one, would like that in regular leather.. But when it comes to wallets.. Its all the way saffiano.. Because if its not, it cud get all scratched up wiht the otherthings in .
